Almonds – The Healthy Power Food

In countries across the globe people are finally starting to realise that eating healthy foods is the way forward. By having the right diet and combining it with exercise and a healthy lifestyle you can both look and feel better. This can sometimes feel like a huge upheaval and incredibly difficult to implement. There are, though, simple things that can be changed to help ease you through the transition and using Almonds is just one of them.

Almonds are now being seen as a ‘power food’; great for getting healthy, slimmer, more attractive and even avoid certain illnesses and diseases. The major components of Almonds make them an incredible source of a huge variety of nutrients. This makes this particular nut a must have for ANYONE looking to improve their diet. They replenish, improve complexion and have even been quoted as a help in reducing the chances of developing type 2 diabetes and heart disease.

To give you a better idea of what exactly you should be looking out for in your health foods, Almonds contain:

  • High amounts of protein,
  • Vitamin E,
  • Magnesium,
  • Manganese,
  • Fibre,
  • Copper,
  • Phosphorous and
  • Riboflavin.

They are cholesterol free and an incredible fatty acid source. Plus they are stuffed with antioxidants and healthy fats that help keep hunger at bay and therefore keep diets in check. They are delicious, completely natural and the nutrients far outweigh the calories per portion.

For so long it was soya and soya products that people turned to for a gluten and dairy free diet. But with varying reports on whether soya actually is as good as they say, Almonds are now able to fill the void and become a valuable part of so many different diets.

Dairy free? Forget soya milk and try Almond milk instead, to gain all the nutrients mentioned above and drink something that is actually quite delicious. Gluten free? Grind the Almonds into flour and create all your favourite cakes and breads using this super food in its most versatile form. At Apollo we offer raw Almonds, which we recommend you soak overnight and sun-dry, now the weather is looking up, to aid digestion.

The uses and benefits of Almonds are vast and we just can’t recommend them enough for a healthy and happy diet. Luckily eating well doesn’t always mean giving up things that taste great. The Almond proves this. Use it right and feel the benefit.
